Skills Partnerships

Building skills for the future of sport through collaboration, innovation and vocational excellence across Europe.

A European approach to skills in sport

The STARS Skills Partnerships bring together organisations from education, sport, public authorities and industry to strengthen skills development across the European sport ecosystem.

Through cooperation at both European and regional level, the partnerships aim to address current and future skills needs in the sector by supporting innovation, vocational excellence, inclusion and lifelong learning opportunities for sport professionals and athletes.

Aligned with the objectives of the European Commission’s Pact for Skills initiative, STARS contributes to strengthening cooperation on skills development in sport and supports the long-term ambition of integrating the sport sector into broader European skills frameworks.

By connecting stakeholders across countries and territories, STARS helps create stronger links between education, employment and the evolving needs of the sport sector.

The STARS model is built around two complementary levels of cooperation:

  • A European-level partnership bringing together organisations and networks working to strengthen skills, innovation and vocational excellence across the sport ecosystem.
  • Regional partnerships connecting local and national stakeholders to address territorial needs while contributing to a broader European vision for skills development in sport.
